Support through visibility
Program description
We cannot save them all by ourselves, no matter how much we wish we could. Our capacity is limited, but our desire to help is far greater.
This is how this programme came to life: an initiative through which we provide online visibility to cats rescued by other individuals, clinics, or independent groups that cannot ensure the necessary promotion for a successful adoption.
It is our way of extending a helping hand where physical space limits us, but the community empowers us.
What exactly do we do?
Although we cannot shelter them directly, we do not ignore them. We collect information and images of cats urgently in need of a family and promote them on our website and social media.
We maintain constant communication with the rescuer, as well as the fosterer or adopter, and we offer support throughout the entire process, ensuring the transition to a family takes place under the best conditions.
We do not take the cat directly into our care, but we remain available as external support – providing assistance, counselling, and active presence if needed, for the safety of the person fostering or adopting the cat.
For more information about fostering and adoption, we invite you to explore the dedicated articles.
How does it work – for rescuers?
To be included in the programme, the cat must be spayed/neutered, dewormed, and tested for FIV/FeLV – or already in the process of undergoing these steps. If you need guidance, we offer advice and recommendations on the necessary medical steps, and when our budget allows, we can also provide partial financial support.
Send us relevant information, clear and well-lit photos of the cat, and details about its current condition. The cats may already be in temporary foster care or at veterinary clinics, waiting for a safe solution. Our goal is to bring them closer to a family – whether temporary or permanent.
We do not take the cat into Green Cats’ direct care, but we handle promotion and provide background support throughout the entire process of finding a family. Adoption and fostering take place just as they do for the cats already in our care, with the support of our team, who will guide you step by step – from the first message to full integration into the new home.
How does it work – for foster carers and adopters?
Each cat promoted through this programme is in a different situation, and the level of involvement required may vary. You choose how much you wish to get involved, and we are here to support you with everything you need.
Before accepting a case for fostering or adoption, you will receive all available information, but it is important to know that:
- The cat’s medical condition may require monitoring, treatment, or further investigations – without you being directly responsible for the costs.
- The cat may need close supervision, especially in the early days, for adaptation, observing behaviour, or signs of stress.
- Specific behaviours typical of the transition period may occur – withdrawal, shyness, avoiding contact, restlessness, or unexpected reactions. These are not “problems” but natural signs of the adaptation process, and with patience and support, they can significantly improve.
- Some cats may have dietary preferences or digestive sensitivities that require attention and minor adjustments.
Even if the cat is not directly in our care, you will not be alone. We are here to support you, step by step – with information, recommendations, and answers whenever you need them.
We want each cat to find a safe and loving home, and for your experience as a fosterer or adopter to be one filled with confidence and balance – for both you and the cat.
