Who are we today?

Green Cats is a non-governmental organization, founded in 2020, dedicated to animal protection, with an exclusive focus on the protection of cats.

Throughout the year we provide free or discounted sterilizations in Cluj-Napoca, Florești, Aiton and Turda – through our partner surgeries – because we understand that the only way to prevent abandonment and reduce the overwhelming number of cats on the streets is sterilization!

We constantly have 40-60 cats in our care and, when resources allow, we are involved in taking on serious cases whether it is an adult cat, a kitten or a senior. For situations where we are unable to take in, we offer to financially support the necessary medical interventions.

We are not a shelter, nor do we support such placements, understanding that a good life for a cat is not in a cage or with dozens of others, but in a home with loving and empathetic people, where they are considered family members. Thus, this takeover-adoption process is accomplished with the involvement of dedicated foster families, without whose help we would not be able to carry our mission to completion.

However, we do have a rented space for cats in need of rehabilitation or a medically suggested treatment scheme, where they await their foster family. We are committed to giving the cats in our care a quality space where we can show them the love they deserve through respect, care, attention and cleanliness.

Coordinating members

Our team is made up of people with diverse talents and interests, working harmoniously together to achieve the common goal of supporting cats, all under Justice’s very serious feline gaze.

Ana-Maria Angeru

Ana-Maria Angeru

Ana-Maria brings a deep understanding of each cat’s specific needs and efficiently manages daily operations.

With experience as a veterinary and rescue assistant since 2013, she has an affinity for properly managing and caring for infant kittens.

Currently with a recent focus on operational management, Ana-Maria ensures the smooth running of everything from social media and medical communication to finance, strategic partnerships, and sourcing everything the cats need.

Her weakness is sick abandoned kittens and feline infectious peritonitis cases.

Adrian Samsonescu

Adrian Samsonescu

Adrian is our on-site animal care and rescue expert.

As a veterinary technician with years of experience and a native artistic talent, Adi also assists us with graphic design, in addition to ensuring the proper functionality of the Cats’ House space, rescuing cats in the field, administering treatments when necessary, and providing daily transportation to veterinary offices or other field activities.

His weakness is aggressive cats with serious pathologies.

Justice

Justice

Justice is our furry superstar who makes sure the street cats make their voices heard – isn’t it hard to get noticed when you’ve only got one Meow at your disposal? His name is no coincidence – it stands for ‘justice’, and he takes this mission very seriously!

He knows how hard it is to be left out, especially when you need medical help. He went through 190 days of treatment for PIF, but came out stronger than ever. Justice knows that the foster period is essential for every torchbearer, giving them the chance to feel the love and care they need to face their challenges.

He constantly reminds us that every kitty deserves to have someone by their side through the tough times, and he’s convinced that every tortoises can change their destiny – so he makes sure all his street siblings get a glimmer of hope and maybe a few tummy strokes. Now that’s justice!

Diana Pop

Diana Pop

Diana contributes outstanding organizational and planning skills.

Being a programmer at the core and having experience in software development and project management since 2016, Diana contributes with her structured thinking and has the ability to identify the actions needed to bring each action to completion in a professional manner.

Her skills are essential, organizing volunteers, organizing temporary cat families, brokering adoptions and managing ongoing projects.

Her weaknesses are the common, simple, adult cats that do not have much chance of adoption.

Oana Chisă

Oana Chisă

Oana helps us with her expertise in the field of partnerships and event organization, as well as with the secretarial side of things, her sociable and warm nature being a solid asset in communicating with community members.

With a solid education in economics and a Master’s degree in sustainable development, Oana is the ideal person to coordinate relations with our partners. She handles both medical and commercial collaborations and is responsible for organizing charitable events.

Oana’s weakness is the elderly cats she struggles to get into her care.

Together we form a dedicated and effective team committed to promoting the well-being and prosperity of Green Cats.

Green Volunteers

Voluntatii Green

We believe that diversity is our strength. The team of volunteers ranges from students, to corporates, lawyers and even doctors.

Green volunteers, each with their own story and profession, are united by their respect for living beings, their desire to change things for the better, and their love of cats. They are people of courage, integrity and a sense of responsibility, who understand that change starts with the individual.

Despite busy schedules and daily responsibilities, our volunteers find time to contribute to a cause bigger than themselves. They are living proof that regardless of professional background, age or gender, each of us can make a difference. Together, we work not only to protect and improve the lives of street cats, but also to promote a less suffering lifestyle in our community through all the work we so wholeheartedly do every day.

We’re proud of our team of atypical volunteers and grateful for all we do together to keep the future green for us and our furry friends.

Green Cats is more than an association; it is a support network and a group of dedicated friends. We are determined to educate society at a national level about cat welfare and neutering, as these are the only things that have a positive impact in reducing abandonment in the medium to long term.
