Welcoming a furry friend into your home is a wonderful experience, and our foster-to-adopt program is designed to make sure the bond between you and your future companion is a perfect one. This program allows you to care for an animal for three months before finalizing the adoption. It’s a journey of love, patience and discovery.

How do you adopt a cat?
  • Fostering period: in order to adopt a cat, you must first successfully pass a probationary period of at least 3 months, during which time the cat will be fostered in your care;
  • Here you can learn more about how the fostering program works;
  • Aici you can find kittens available for adoption.
  • Assessing the situation: since your intention is to adopt, we encourage you to try to gradually cover all your cat’s needs, but without forgetting that during fostering we are responsible for her, so it is mandatory that you keep us informed about your cat’s condition, and get our consent for any vet visits, travel, change of feeding or anything else that may cause stress to the cat in your care.
  • Finalizing adoption: to finalize the process, you will need to sign an adoption contract, which can be discussed in advance to answer any possible questions (see model contract below). We also want to keep in touch with our adopters, therefore we have a dedicated adopters group where we can keep in touch throughout the kitten’s life.

Read the contract terms here: Foster Contract (Romanian) / Foster Contract (English).

What do you need to know before adopting?
  • Cats can live between 12 and 20 years, sometimes even longer. You need to be prepared to give them everything they need throughout their lifetime.
  • Although cats are more independent than other animals, they need time for play, affection and care.
  • Keeping a cat involves upfront and regular costs, including: vet visits, food, supplies (litter, toys, accessories, litter), as well as possible unexpected expenses such as medical treatments for ailments or accidents. You need to make sure these expenses can be covered in the medium to long term.
  • Children can scratch furniture, knock over objects or can sometimes become fussy. It is important to be prepared to train them patiently, to understand their behavior and to be flexible in finding solutions that suit everyone.
  • Someone needs to look after your cat if you go out of town; cats are most comfortable in their own environment so we recommend regular visits from a trusted friend/neighbor/family member to freshen water, clean the litter box, make sure they have enough to eat and provide at least 15 minutes of interaction.
  • Be willing to constantly keep up to date with your cat’s needs to ensure a happy and healthy life.

Adopting a cat is an act of love, but it must be done responsibly. Honestly assess your resources, time and ability to provide a safe and loving home before taking this step. If you would like to find out more details or get started on this wonderful experience, please contact us. Our team is ready to answer questions and support you every step of the way, even after the adoption is finalized.
