Sushi
Sushi is a calico cat with a personality to match: calm, affectionate, playful, but also a bit sassy, with a healthy dose of attitude. She is the kind of cat who knows what she wants, yet bonds deeply with her people and loves keeping them company.
Her story began on the street when she was only two and a half months old. She jumped in front of her owner’s car, and when he stopped, Sushi climbed right onto the wheel and started playing with him as he tried to get her out. That is how she was rescued and adopted, and ever since, she has lived exclusively in an apartment, growing accustomed to all the comforts of indoor cat life.
Sushi is a playful cat with a medium energy level. She has a few favorite types of toys, especially those she can grab with her front paws and bunny-kick with her hind legs. She also loves jumping after toys thrown in the air, and when she is not in the mood for running around, a few treats are usually enough to convince her. She is a clever cat, too, having learned a few tricks with the help of lickable treats: she knows how to give paw, sit, and spin.
When she is not playing, her favorite activities are napping in various spots around the house, watching what is happening outside through the window, or lounging next to people on the couch. She is very affectionate and likes sleeping by your feet or in your arms, especially during the colder months—though she prefers to come and settle on her own terms. She does very well on her own during the day, but after longer periods without company, she usually becomes extra clingy and loving.
Sushi is a very curious and sociable cat who adapts surprisingly quickly to new people and places. She has been through several moves and has even flown on an airplane; each time, she was eager to explore her new home and quickly settled in. She hasn’t interacted with other cats so far, but she temporarily lived with a large, young, and very energetic dog, whom she began playing with after about a week. With a proper introduction, she could easily adapt to other cat-friendly pets. In fact, a playmate might do her a world of good.
She is accustomed to being brushed and having her claws trimmed, including being groomed with a pet vacuum attachment, especially if she gets a few lickable treats as a reward.
Unfortunately, Sushi is now looking for a new family because one of her owners developed a severe cat allergy, making it impossible to keep her. It is a very difficult decision, but the goal is to find a loving home where she will receive the same care and affection she has always known.
Sushi would fit best in a home looking for an affectionate cat with personality, but one that will also respect her personal space. For this reason, she would not be the best match for a family with very young children who might insist on picking her up or holding her by force.
